The Medical Council of India is the apex regulatory body for regulating the medical education in India. The council has prescribed minimum teaching curricula for getting the MBBS degree in the country. All medical colleges in India have to follow these minimum guidelines. The minimum guideline are as follows:
The MBBS course is of five and a half years including one year of internship. The first year of MBBS Course comprises of the syllabus and duration consists of one year teaching basic science subjects – Anatomy, Physiology and Bio-chemistry with some learning of Community Medicine.
Second year of MBBS course consists of para-clinical subjects – Microbiology, Pathology, Pharmacology and Forensic Medicine with Community Medicine.
Third year of MBBS course is divided in two parts. Part I is of one year with subjects to be appear for exam are ophthalmology, ENT and Community Medicine. Part II is again of one year with subjects to be appear in exam are Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology and Pediatrics.
Thus once student clear all four years with all subjects named, he/she is eligible for internship.
First year of MBBS course – It starts with admission around July – August of the given year. The first two semesters or term consist of first year. The first two semesters (approximately 240 teaching days) will be occupied in the phase I (pre-clinical) subjects and introduction to a broader understanding of the perspectives of medical education leading to delivery of health care.
Eligibility for MBBS Course Admission :
A student should have passed Intermediate examination with Science stream (i.e. Physics, Chemistry & Biology) / Pre-Medical Course / 12 year of 10+2 or equivalent examination with a minimum of 50% marks (40% in case of SC/ST candidates) in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together. Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination may also apply.
A student has completed 17 years of age but not crossed 25 years as on 31st December of the year of admission.
Foreign nationals are not required to appear in the entrance examination for MBBS Course. They may seek admission through respective Ministries of Govt. of India, New Delhi, as per the rules laid down for the purpose.
Last Date of Admission:
As per the guidelines of the Medical Council of India, all MBBS course admissions in all Medical college of the country, must be completed by 30th September every year. No admission(s) shall be made beyond 30th September. No mid-term admission is allowed in any case.
Direct Admission in MBBS Course or Medical College:
There is a provision of direct admission in MBBS Course on management seat (if available) in the college, under management quota. For management quota admission in MBBS course of a college. There are few things to be kept in mind.
If the candidate fulfills all the above mentioned conditions, then they are eligible to get admission in any college on management seat.

- The candidate should fulfill the minimum and maximum age limit.
- The candidate has appeared and qualified the MBBS course entrance test. (In this case rank is not considered).
If the candidate fulfills all the above mentioned conditions, then they are eligible to get admission in any college on management seat.
